involvement in weekend and evening workshops, and after-hours mentoring

Teachers & fellows have access to a library of reference materials

What is expected of Teachers
- Meet and share lesson plans, long-range plans, and class management
techniques with the Fellow prior to Fellow assisting in the classroom,
so that the Fellow can enhance classroom instruction with appropriate
experimental/inquiry activities.
- Provide 7-10 hours per week for opportunities for the Fellow to
assist with science, mathematics and technology instruction. Don’t
forget that Fellows can bring science perspectives to lessons such as
history, art, music, PE, etc.
- Spend up to 1 hour per week planning with the Fellow.
- Facilitate the Fellow’s interactions with other school personnel
if time permits.
- Allow a faculty mentor to observe the Fellow in a classroom setting
once per month.
- Participate in 2-5 day professional development workshops spaced
throughout the semester. Initial workshops (1-2 days) will be held near the beginning of the participant's term, with other workshops scheduled as needed outside of
school hours.
- Partner Teachers may choose to enroll in a 2-credit semester-based continuing education course
(ED 593) offered outside of the school day. Time requirement will be
3 hours every other week. This course, including the activities described
in #6 above, will satisfy the continuing education requirement for educators.
- Participate in evaluation focus groups and/or surveys.
